I think you are on the right track - there are two separate problems.

Fitting poly bushes to the rear anti-roll bar certainly worked well for me (before I Abbottised my suspension) in reducing understeer in normal/sporty driving. It mad a surprising amount of difference. But at low speeds I'd suggest you need to look at the tyres and alignment.

The front end alignment which seems to work pretty well is 1.0mm toe-in.

For tyres, so many posts, so many opinions! But for wet-weather grip I personally recommend the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. Not quite convinced by some other aspects of them but they definitely hang on in the wet. They are much better than the Pirelli P6000s I used to fit. The Bridgestone SO-3 is also good in both wet and dry, but has a reputation for rapid wear.

Third thing is, as you already know, to tread lightly on the loud pedal because you may be breaking the front end loose under weight transfer!
