Ive had my Valentine up high since I bought it 4? years ago. Mounted just to the left of the black out that drops down behind the rear view mirror. Ive read somewhere that the blackout does affect the performance, so why take chances? Anyway, the suction cups wont stick to the blackout, so if you want it up high you have to mount on bare glass. Mine is hardwired, the Valentine uses telephone type wire, I ran it up between the windshield and the headliner and stuffed blocks of black closed cell foam in there to keep the wire in place and out of sight. Down behind the 'A' pillar on the pasenger side and into the back of the glove box to the fuse block to a switched hot lead. I like having it up high as it blends in better to keep out of thieves eyesight, actually cant even see it unless your specifically looking for one. Down on the dash your just saying "look at this 400 dollar item I have right here for you !" Also may get hotter in the baking sun on the dashboard. Either way you will love the Valentine.
