Engine's been rattling - thought it was the serp belt or pulleys, but I just replaced both idlers, belt, and tensioner with no luck in quieting the rattle. Needed to do that anyway, so it's fine, but I popped off the valve cover and the timing chain has more play than I think it should. Used the trick of turning the engine backwards to try and reset the tensioner, and it seemed to help, but on reassemble and restart the rattle is still apparent.
Guides seem to be in good shape, but I'm not exactly sure what to look for.
How do I check the chain tensioner's integrity?
Has anyone rolled in a timing chain on a 9000?
