88 9000 turbo with 198,000 miles.
I recently determined that my control arm bushings (the rear ones) are really loose and contributing to the rattling sounds I hear over bumps. I have the poly bushings from eEuroparts, and am looking forward to what these can do for suspension and handling.
I searched the archives, and found a procedure posted by George that makes some sense. The link is included below.
Procedure makes a LOT of sense with what I see underneath the car. However, further research had a post about the aluminum housing of these bushings (in MY 86-88) welded to the subframe!
A few specific questions:
1--is the aluminum sleeve attached to the frame? Will I need to do something extraordinary to get it out?
2--The poly bushing is not perfectly centered on the sleeve--the polyurethane is thicker on one side. Which way should the bushing be oriented, or doesn't it matter? I have a feeling that the holes in the bracket will help me determine this anyway.
3--Any other suggestions, tips, or special tools?
Thanks for any help you guys may have.
