Supposedly, the set-up I have produces 250hp. I truly believe it to be more. There is no way I could leave behind the types of vehicles that I do if it was that rating. Then again, the amount of torque produced is incredible (380Nm), and is probably the deciding factor in who wins the race. It's also stated that this set-up will allow the turbo to boost up to 16 psi. I consistently surpass that, many times approaching 20 psi on my VDO gauge. When I get into it, I basically get that feeling like being on an airplane while it's trying to gain altitude during take-off. Unbelievable is all I can say, especially coming out of a 4-banger!

What I have:

BSR re-mapped ECU
JT 3" exhaust turbo-back
K&N air filter in stock airbox
Hyperboost BPV (piston style)
Premium fuel always
Continental ContiExtremeContact tires in size 225/50-16
Aero suspension with poly bushings

I also play around with the fuse 9 trick which makes the ECU think it is installed in a 5-spd equipped vehicle. This then allows the engine to produce as much torque as is had with a 5-spd (405Nm with the Stage 3). The ECU limits torque in an auto to protect the tranny. I shift the tranny like a stick, keeping it in gear until 5500 rpm's. I always let off the gas slightly when making a shift so that the torque converter is not spinning too wildly.

Audi, M-B, BMW, GS400, even a Porsche (just to name a few) have all been images in my rear-view mirror at some point.

A Stage 3 set-up will not cause any more maintenance than stock. Plugs, fluids, filters, etc. all get inspections/replacements at the "more aggressive" approach to the Saab Recommended Schedule.

I have yet to take the car to the track, and hopefully, one day, I will.

Joe
