Weather cools off...AC starts working?

Picked up a '95 CS this past spring. When the warm weather came, no AC.
Jumped the AC clutch, cools fine. Has R134, my crappy low side gauge says its should be ok (30psi when running?).
Tested the AC Relay - the pin that the CPU grounds to turn on the AC never gets grounded. When the clutch is jumpered on, AC cooling fan ran as it should.
So, I figured either the low pressure switch, or the low temp switch were bad, and rolled down the windows.
Other than replacing the serp belt, and the IAC sensor, I haven't touched it. After replacing the IAC, I didn't notice any change in the AC.
Now that its cooler, the AC has started working again. Blows cold air, and the big tube is cool, and the small tube is warm.
Any idea why this might be working again?
