My concern is not the plastic chain guide. If it breaks, big deal. It is the pin on the block the guide has to slip in I am concerned about. If that is bent or broken, I am really screwed. I think I am going to heat the guide up a little with a heat gun for removing paint before attempting.
The timing chain cover being difficult to remove or install is not my problem now. The engine is on the stand with the sump pan already off. So I can easily put the timing chain cover back on and then the sump pan. It is hard on if the sump pan is still attached to the bolck because the TC cover is sandwiched by the head and the sump pan.
