The proper technical term for the ECUs (computers) are ETS, ASR, ABS/TCS and TCS.
The three different ones under driver seat (US) is the (ASR, ETS, 4 cyl) and (TCS, V6). ASR is only found in the automatic version of 4 cyl TCS equipped cars.
Don't quote me on this but I think ASR stands for (Automatic Skid Reduction). I have tried to find the name for it in the manuals but not seen it.
The ASR ECU is used to operate the KDW motor (Kick Down Wire).
The ABS/TCS ECU is in the engine compartment on TCS equipped 4 cyl cars.
On non TCS cars (both 4 and V6) that ECU is called ABS only.
Lots of confusions, heck I have a hard time keeping up on the stuff. That's why I go back to the books and read up on it as much as possible.
So yes, the V6 doesn't have the dreaded electronic throttle body and therefore can be driven even if the TCS conks out.
My personal opinion still is that the engine is to sluggish for the car if you don't step hard on it to get it going.
Even more sluggish than the 2.5L in the NG900.
