That's one of the first things i replaced when i bought my car... just to be sure... you know?
I replaced the thermostat with the waxstat 82 degree model, and i also replaced the high speed cooling fan sensor with a i think a whaler 82 degree model...
... so this way, when the thermostat starts flowing coolant, the high speed fan comes on at the same time.
i used to live in florida, and even in mid summer, in dead heat and start and stop traffic, my 1990 9000 turbo temp gauge would never break 10 oclock.
if yours is taking along time to warm up... the thermostat might be stuck OPEN... flowing coolant all the time, and making things warm up more slowly...
this is better than it being stuck closed... but... you should get it checked out... it's cheap insurance.
