Hi,
I had a similar problem a while ago where the brake lights would work then stop and eventually just stopped. There was also an odd 'slumping' feeling under boost sometimes. It turned out that the switch under the dash (not next to brake pedal but on the other side of the car) was failing (literally falling apart) and the engine computer would cut boost because it detected a problem with the braking system (nice feature).
So by replacing the switch (one of the cheaper parts on the dealer list) I fixed both problems. Be careful if installing a new one as the plastic flanges that hold it in place must click into place or the switch may back out of position but if you are not gentle enough the flanges break (found this out after 'bodging' my old switch and trying to reinstall it - so I had to go buy a new one)
hope this helps
