The proper tire size for a 1991 9000T is 205/50-16. This information is contained in the SAAB shop manual, on the car's tire information placard and in the owners manual.

I am the original owner of a 1991 non turbo 9000 5 hatchback. The original tire size on my car was 195/65-15. I bought a set of 16 x 6.5 SAAB alloy wheels and installed 205/55-16 Dunlop SP 5000 M&S tires. The tires were great but they rubbed on the studs that attach the front wheel arch mouldings. This happened when I hit a dip in the road and when I cornered agressively.

The Dunlops wore out after approximately 40,000 miles. I then installed a set of 205/50-16 Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S tires because the Dunlops were not available in this size. I like the Pirellis just as well as the Dunlops and they do not rub since they are slightly smaller in diameter.

If memory serves me correctly the tire size placard can be found by opening the right rear door. I assume your 16 inch wheels are 6.5 inches wide. I inflate my tires to 36 psi, which I believe is the pressure recommended in the shop manual.

I do not have that volume in front of me as I write this. I will check it tomorrow and if 36 is not thh correct pressure I will post a followup.
