the cars came from the factory with appropriate tires, but if you have a different rated tire high speeds aren't a good idea. A tire failure at 130 mph is likely to demonstrate a whole different set of safety features of your car.

PS: My fool brother took my 9000 from Kalamazoo to Big Rapids Michigan in one hour not long after I got the car in approximately 50 minutes. Averaged just over 110 mph with no worries. I say fool brother because 131 is a heavily traveled road and goes right through metro Grand Rapids.
I on the other hand (less foolishly) took my 740 through Nebraska with the cruise set at 125mph for nearly 2 hours last year and hardly saw another car the entire time. Get this...25mpg at 125mph...unfreakin real!
point is that a well balanced european car handles great at these speeds. It is the other drivers you must worry about.
