I have all but given up on obtaining/making the nylon gear. I did manage to make an incredibly accurate and detailed mold of it, and produced some test gears. I simply cannot find a way to make it strong enough. I tried the two strongest epoxies I know of, and one of them broke about a tenth of a second after the seat reaching the end of its travel. The other one, which I actually thought was going to be strong (J-B Weld) broke while trying to install it.

If anyone has any ideas of other materials to try, or how to produce nylon in my basement, I'm all ears. Otherwise I'll just be buying a new (used) seat.
