I have 220k km on my 1995 V6 griffin now. Has been very reliable, just the timing belt needs changing every now and then. Make sure you have the updated tensioner.
Don't pay too much attention to the TCS posts on this board as the TCS of the V6 is completely different and does not interfere with normal driving if it goes bust.
The auto box is the same as on any other 9k, so that's a known quantity. Make sure you have the right amount of fresh fluid in. Not much you can do besides. Ask your mechanic to at least do a single refresh, if you can't do it yourself.

Heresy to say on this board, but htis car has so far been the most reliable 9k I've owned. But that's anecdotical.
