Hello everyone!

Here's the scoop! basically...

Recently, my car has been making noise when i'm turning the steering wheel in the morning. It's been leaking power steering fluid at a pretty constant rate. Probably doesn't have much to do with the overheating, but maybe... i'd also like to know what the noise is. It sound slike chebacca when i'm turning the wheel, even after car has been warming up for 10-15 min. After driving it a short while, the noise stops, as far as i could tell.

a while back, my idleer pully for the A/C compressor FELL OFF the engine block, and luckily didn't do TOO much damage to the S-belt as it fell off... but the S-belt was rubbed on and the outer edge of the belt is partly worn down... but the belt is still there, basically. been meaning to get the pully and belts re-done.

So, then on saturday, i was trying to drive from my apartment in New Paltz, NY to my parents in queensbury NY, 2 hours north, in a blizzard, and my heat wasnt working!

I had the car warming up for maybe 15-20 minutes, and when i got in and started driving, i noticed it was blowing cold air still. I messed round with the ACC unit, ran a recalibration, and also pulled over to check coolant level, and S-belt...

everything was fine... and i decided to just go it without heat. As i headed towards the thruway onramp, miraculously my vents started blowing warm air again.

It was a very gradual increase in temp coming from the air vents. Over the course of the next 20 minutes, it finally started blow the HOT HOT air tham i'm used to when i have the temp set for HI.

So... i read a little about this problem, with no heat, and i noticed it could either be a broken mixer flap arm, or the heater core is blocked...

... about a month ago, i had a coolant leak also. I used a bottle of BAR'S leaks, and i followed the directions to a T. I hope this isnt what's clogging my system up.

Anyways, whatever the problem with the hot air was, it fixed itself.

This morning... i woke up late, and i had to rush to go to work. Unfortunately, i had no time to let my car warm up, and my temp gauge in my car read -10 *F... that's BAAD i know, but if i'm late for work, it's worse... trust me

So, i took it easy on the car for a while... and evenutally the car warmed up and temp read normally. Then as i got closer to work, i noticed the temp gauge was reading maybe 10-11 oclock. I started noticing that it would fall back down, to 8 oclock, and then rise up to a solid 11, stay there, then fall to 9 oclock, then rise to 11, and then stay there...

Temp gauge was JUUUST under the red zone. I was 1 mile away from work, luckily... so i parked and shut then engine off before it went into the red.

I opened the lid slowly on my coolant expansion tank, to let off some pressure... some coolant started to spray out.... there appreared to be plenty of coolant in the tank. I'd been checking it for days, and it wasn't low.

S-belt was still there...

Now, I've got the work day here to get my car towed if i have to, and get it to a local saab indy. I could get a ride home too...

It seems to me as if whatever clogged the heater core, moved and clogged the radiator?

t-stat is new, fan temp switch is new...

should i try and drive it again or no?

advice?

i've got about 4 hours to figure this out.

thanks everyone in advance!!
