Clicking/popping niose when turning steering wheel.

My 94 9k Aero has recently started making a new noise when turning the steering wheel. It hear the sound mostly when making right turns. The sound kind of resembles what a bad CV joint would sound like if the car was moving but the pitch is slightly different. The car does this even if it is not moving. The more I turn the wheel the more it clicks/pops. The sound sounds like it its comming from around the steering column. It is not just one thud like most steering sounds people are describing. Also when I turn the car to the right it sounds like my left brake is rubbing. The sound was more noticable today b/c the car has sat for 3 weeks and the rotors were slightly rusted. After driving it for some time the sound got a little better but I could still hear it. I have been hearing this sound for months but it has not been bad enough for me to really look into it. Could a worn wheel bearing cause the rubbing? As for the steering column noise I don't have a clue. Thanks.
