I assume that these go into the gaps in the bushing on the upper torque rod (aka 'dogbone').

The torque rod controls engine movement under hard acceleration/deceleration. Stiffening that up will reduce shifter movement, if you're doing a lot of hard shifting - shifting under power. Shifts will be a little smoother. This is for a manual. There may be some improvement in lower mount life.

What you WON'T get is improved ride. The bushings in the torque rod are there to isolate engine vibration from the chassis. Otherwise, they'd just bolt the engine to the chassis and be done with it. You will get increased vibration. How much? Depends on the engine. I've had cars where the slightest stiffening in the upper bushings resulted in a steering wheel like a paint shaker; in other cars, no difference. Spin the wheel, take your chance.

I'll give you my opinion, but ask a question first - What other changes have you made to the car, suspension-wise? Wider, lower-profile tires? Poly bushings? Any engine upgrades?

If you've made suspension upgrades, then you've already made the commitment to trading off some comfort for increased performance. Stiffening the engine mounts, IN CONJUNCTION with other suspension mods, will help. It may or may not add vibration, but as said, you've already decided to trade that off.

If, however, the car is stock, and you don't have any plans to upgrade it, I wouldn't add these. They may increase vibration, may not. Probably will. As to improved handling, you won't notice anything without other upgrades. You're just strengthening one link in the chain, and there are others that are now weaker.

If you're worried about the life of the lower mounts, try the limiter trick from Quasi (http://www.quasimotors.com/mountwork.htm) or Townsend. And Joe98's solution is great - you can do it for free, and find out if it works.
