I had my 9K in again today to try and figure out the fogging issue that some of us had disussed last month. Last time it was in for this, the first thing I asked my indy to check was the recirc flap. He said it was working fine. He then changed the cabin air filter, blew out all the drains (including the evaporator drain) and said it should be good.
Well it wasn't. It was still the same as before, fogging up for no apparent reason when cold out, no matter how many people in the car and no matter whether it was snowy out or wet out. The defoggers would not clear, including the hatch and rear doors and the only thing that would clear it out was to open a window.
Fast forward to today. I go to pick it up and apparently he changed the cabin air sensor and moved the exterior temp sensor (it had gotten pushed up). So I ask him again whether he checked the recirc flap. He said he had, and hadn't gotten a code. So I asked whether he had checked if it was physically working, and he said he hadn't.
So I drive it back in the bay and he pops out the cabin filter, has me cycle the recirc button on and off, and lo and behold the friggen flap isn't moving. It was after all stuck in recirc mode!!! He bangs on it with a hammer and it opens up when I push the button, so I right now I have it disconnected. I'll deal with it when I have a more time and as it gets warmer. Its still wicked cold here, so I won't be needing the AC anytime soon.
So the next step is to find out whether or not the motor is crap, or whether something's up with the flap.
