Where the battery cables enter the terminals were there any signs that corrosion had entered the cables.Also check all the major battery connection to the body and the starter to make sure that they are clean and tight.Then if no improvement you will need to have a on-car current draw test on the starter curcuit in your car vs your dad's and if yours is over 15% higher the starter needs to be looked at.
