Hi Steve -I have 2,1992 9000's so we are very good on that year, the others are a 1988,and a 1993.One thing that drove me crazy was the CPS on the Griffin,it dove me wild in that it acted so strange. It would not also start at times, and got worst in it would quit when driving it also.I would allways get it back home - but it need time to cool down at times. What it turned out to be was the CPS(crankshaft position sensor).
The fuel pump should run when connected to power if it does, forget about the fuel pump and look at replacing the CPS.The CPS provides the signal to the Main engine CPU that then pulls in the fuel pump relay,no signal from the CPS no fuel going to the engine.A very quick way to confirm is to watch the tach when cranking the engine-if the tach needle does not move upscale and bounce around-the car won't start because the engine CPU provides the tach signal and again no CPS signal - no start because the fuel pump is not called to run by the engine CPU.
You will sware it's the fuel pump but it is not. Watch the tach needle to see what you need to do. Good Luck
