how do i test the switches?
Take out the seat, locate the connector for the heater element, measure it with an ohmmeter. It should read about 2ohms. If the heater element is bad, it will read infinite. If the element is ok, then the switch is bad.
To replace the heater element, you remove the upholstery. The element is a wire inside a thin foam pad, which is adhered to the seat. It can be peeled off. You can also try to repair the break in the element, but in my experience those fixes don't often last very long.
