Andy is right. I've noticed that if I turn off the ACC while it's in the vent position, then ambient air will come through (especially with a sunroof or window open) the vents. I think this is because the vent baffles are set to a certain config when you turn it off, and then they remain stationary, thereby leaving a free path for the air to flow through.
One thing I've done in order to prevent this is to push the recirculation button before I turn it off. This way there should be no free path from outside air to the interior...
