There is a shift rod alignment procedure you can try. I wrote up the procedure in a post several months ago. I believe it is good for 94s and later. Short version= place in 4th gear;loosen shift coupler bolt; Go under the hood, on top of trany is a rubber nipple,remove; Insert philips head screwdriver in that hole. Back in car, remove shfter boot, and you will see another alignment hole in front of shifter . Using another slimmer driver,you should be able to insert thru hole into corresponding hole in shifter rod. If you can't, you need to rotate rod until you can. Tighten up shift coupler bolt; remove all screwdrivers; re-insert rubber nipple and shifter boot. This is relatively easy- give it a try- good luck- Tom S. 1995 Aero 336k miles.
