Well, the colours are painted on the springs - three colours (not necessarily different) in five blobs. They identify variables like wire diameter, # of coils free, spring length etc. and are used to choose the right spring for the specification and weight of the car. So my springs are

Front: orange-white-yellow-white-orange
Rears: red-white-yellow-white-red

If you search for "spring color" or hunt out Joe98's posts you will find out more. Whether it helps you or not is a different matter!

Michael Smith is quite right to say there's plenty of spring travel but I personally prefer the car to look level - saggy at the rear makes the car look a bit tired, maybe.

Because Saab seem to sell only one sports suspension kit these days, I've ended up with manual front springs rather than automatic ones and this helps a bit, because the auto transmission's heavier.

Similarly, according to the Sachs/Boge website there are fewer options available in dampers (shocks) now, too.
