My 93 cse, with FPT, manual, has a severe choking / starving sensation when at normal operating temp, and from 2500 rpm and above. It started hesitating and not wanting to run at all and I barely got it off the freeway. I reported this to the Saab mechanic: loss of power and miss above 3000 RPM.
He found the DI OK, replaced turbo bypass valve hose (which was really cooked), found the intake tube faulty and broken at fitting. Replaced. After that it ran reasonably well enough to get it from Portland to SF.
Now, it runs great as long as it's cold. But when the temp guage gets to "9:00" the car begins to pulse at 2500, doesn't want to accelerate, and misses slightly above 3000. It's really noticable with AC on, especially on shifts - RPMs drop like a rock, and, when coming down to idle, it shutters as it goes below idle RPM. 2500 is about 70MPH and, with cruise on, it wants to speed up, slow down (pulsing). The age of the DI can't be determined, but has been replaced sometime before 98k in the car's 142k miles.
Diagnosis?
