I'd want to check a better set of schematics Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Wed, 1 Jun 2005 11:06:16 In Reply to: Re: The year would be helpful, rich croog, Wed, 1 Jun 2005 10:49:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I happen to have the Saab electrical schematics for 1992, and they are quite complete. They're just not at hand, and I won't be able to get to them until Friday. However, I checked a somewhat useful set (Mitchell), and it appears that the Start signal from the ignition switch goes into the Alarm box on pin 9 (yellow/white) wire, and the signal that comes out to the starter is on pin 1 (yellow). So I would figure that if you simply jumpered pin 9 to pin 1, the car would start.
As a way to check if the problem is the alarm, go to the Test Connector on the left-hand bulkhead in the engine compartment. Pin 3 (yellow wire) is tied to the yellow wire between the alarm box pin 1 and the starter. If you don't see 12 volts there when the key is in the START position, then you know the signal isn't getting out of the alarm box. If you do see 12 volts there, then you probably have a bad starter solenoid.
