My beloved 92 9kT (111,000 miles) has been manhandled by a local dealer in the city I recently moved to.
I'm trying to judge if I'm getting scammed, so please provide any insight you might have.
The main issue is whether a failed clutch, failed clutch master cylinder, and then a second failed slave cylinder can lead to severe leakage from the driver's side driveshaft. Dealer says he can't get't drive shaft off (due to a jimmied retaining ring).
So my question is how did this retaining ring get damaged? It's never been off before.
Does the replacement of the clutch and pressure plate require removal of transmission?
Does replacement of slave cylinder require removal of transmission?
I'm suspiciuous of my current dealer because he tried to overcharge me a $100 for my master cylinder replacement (2.5 hours of labor), and then charged me $40 for overnighting the part. He kept the car 10 days during the slave cylinder replacement and returned it to me with the hood emblem all broken up.
Sigh!!! I'm not happy with this dealer but don't seem to have a lot of options in Northen Indiana. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

1) What is the most common cause of a leak at the driveshaft seals?
