Starting Issues(longish)

I've been having this recurring issue with my '93 cs starting in warm weather. Last summer during what seemed to be random times, the car wouldn't start. It wouldn't crank or even attempt a start. It is somewhat random as most times it will start right up, but other times, like this past weekend...i sat at a rest stop for over an hour because it wouldn't do anything. I had no problems starting it since the end of last summer, up until a few days ago when it started getting warm in MA again. Now a lot of the 'normal' problems i've read about don't seem to apply. I haven't had to turn the key any farther, and once it starts, it turns over and catches immediately. It seems to be a lack of power getting to the starter, though i have checked the voltages coming off of the starter coil (not sure if thats the right name, but its the coil that is connected to the key shaft within the steering column) and that seems to be fine. I'm not sure, i figured maybe someone here might have some ideas.
Also, i've mentioned it to my local mechanic, but it hasn't happened when he's had the car (of course) so he hasn't been able to diagnose the problem.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions
Conor
