More general foolishness

SO, I think that I have traced a few of the electrical glitches to a common point of failure in the driver's side door lock area. The central locking with key does not work, but it does work from inside when you push/pull the driver's side lock knob. Likewise, the alarm system works (OUCH! Found out the hard way at 7am before coffee yesterday morning), but because the system is armed/disarmed from the same point as central locking (outside with key), I had to pull fuse #19 do disable until I can get the door opened up. Which leads to the fact that the radio, on the same fuse as the alarm, is an aftermarket unit installed by BestBuy. Anyone wanna bet that when they installed they cut into the wiring harness somewhere and did a sub-standard job? I am seriously considering going back to the Saab O.E.M. music system as the Pioneer that was installed is one of those gee-gaws, look at me things with a thousand features and graphics that do nothing but distract you when you are driving. Another question is regarding the lighting in the center console. I replaced a burned out bulb and it works, but does not seem to extinguish unless the car is off. Does that light just stay on the entire time the key is in the on position?! Seems like it, as the lid activates no switch that I could find.
Every day I own it, I find something new to tweak. As I read somewhere here and have now adopted as my mantra: I didn't just buy a used Saab ... I bought a new hobby.
