I've been posting some of my feedback on the upgrades I've been doing to my 1995 9000 Aero 5spd w/TCS. It started with a K&N and a Downpipe. I was running no cat and the stock exhaust. Then I added an SQR ECU.(I'll have to put it on the dyno to be sure if it's a stage 3 or stage 4, there was some confusion about this.-I think it may be stage 4 due to clutch slippage and rediculous amounts of boost.) I recently finished off the exhaust with a 3"race cat and the rest of the 3" system, plus I opened up the intake box-took off the snorkely horn & drilled a couple of holes in the top of the box.
I got a speeding ticket in the first 10 minutes. But later after driving it a bit, here are my thoughts.
The noise is a bit louder. Louder than my convertible viggen was, but not nearly as loud as ricer with a big fart can exhaust. THe tone is very deep and throatier. I give it an 7 or 8 out of 10. This may improve as I readjust some things since I think I have a small exhaust leak around the cat.
I was testing it on a 92 degree day so it may not be a fully accurate representation, due to retarded ignition timing.
The engine breathes freely and willingly rushes toward the redline, THe power actually felt much more linear with less "shot out of a cannon" turbo feeling. In fact boost was less and seemed to come on slower-again this may be the heat outside) However, with less boost, there was clearly more power. I attribute this to less backpressure, and lower boost means lower EGT's.
I also did not unplug the battery and redo the adaptation runs, I just tried to do some short ones after the install, then I got a ticket, so now I drive it like a grandma.
I'll be putting it on a dyno soon and will post that info for you.
Overall, I'm thrilled with how the car performs. and the tailpipe is very clean and looks great with the 31/2 inch crome tip.
