On the cabin side, there is a collar bolt. Loosen it with a 12mm, or 13mm socket I forgot which. After loosening the bolt or even remove completely, stick a thick flat blade screw driver in the collar opening to open it up. Now sit in the driver seat and shift the gear to first to disengage the coupler.
That should do it.
As a bonus, should you find the need to replace the new style shift linkage, alleged to never fail but obviously does, you have to loosen the linkage on the transmission side also. Loosen and remove the nut on the pin. (8mm socket I think) Slip the nut back on the pin until flush with the end of the pin. The pin I am takling about is tapered. It would have been locked in the hole tight. Use a 16 lb hammer to tap the end of the pin, now with the nut flush with it, to knock it loose.
