There is probably a reason that the fluid is low. If I were you I would inspect all three of the power steering hoses, the rack and the pump in an effort to find a leak. I changed all three hoses on my 91 9K at approximately 110K miles in 1999. The pressure hose was leaking at the steering rack end and the others were fluid soaked. They still all look OK at 223K miles. I cahnge the power steering fluid every two years by disconnecting the large hose at the pump. Most of the fluid in the system will then drain out. I then disconnect the DI cassette and have a helper crank the engine and turn the steering wheel lock to lock. This purges the system pretty well. The owners manual for my car states "Use only GM steering fluid 99 85 010 or Texaco TL 4634." I have been using Prestone fluid which states that it meets GM specifications but it does not call out the spec number on the bottle. New fluid is clear.
