On a 1991 9000T I did it once by removing the top bracket that spans the two front fenders. It involved removing the headlights, grill, two diagonal supports and unbolting the radiator/intercooler/condenser assembly. The bolts on the bracket at the bottom were hard to get to, I remember. Once the bracket was disconnected, I lifted it up without disconnecting the hood latch cable and pushed it off to the side. I then leaned the radiator backwards to get some space.
You might try just removing the motor as n8 suggested, but I was replacing the A/C condensor so that wasn't an option.
