depends on the shop. These are all franchised, so quality varies. The one near me was very good when we had to do my wife's Exploder. They showed me everything and explained things thoroughly. HOWEVER, not all AAMCOs have necessarily dealt with enough ZFs to be as competent as you might like.
If you have a good indy, talk with him. Some of the Saab specialist indies also do trannies, and have the tools and knowledge.
If you wind up pulling it, be sure to do anything else that's easier while the box is out of the car.
