Why did you keep any part of the HK system still connected? If I am am understanding your connection correctly, the 3" midrange from HK is in parallel with the input to your Kappa (also 6 x 9?) crossover. If so, that means your Kappas only have half the power available that they otherwise might. There are a few factors coming into play, like how stable the amplifier is into a 2 ohm load (the result of two four ohm speakers in parallel) and how much power it will produce into 2 ohms vs. 4 ohms. I would check the phase as Brian suggests, but also experiment with disconnecting the midranges.
