This is my second set of Kumhos. A few years ago I had the Ecsta 711 (think back then it didn't get the Ecsta prefix). It was extremely sticky in the dry, pretty good in the rain until it wore way down, but fairly noisy in all conditions. However, they did last about 30k miles, and at $55 a tire or so, you can't complain much. I had the V rated in 205/55/15.

So this week, looking to go back to a quiet tire and one with even longer life, but not so much a summer performance tire, I had a set of Kumho Solus KH16 put on, this time 205/60/15. I went to the taller size for several reasons, not the least of which is that these tires, and many other tires, are not available in 205/55/15. Anyhow... I have only had them on a few days, but here are my extremely preliminary results:

-Very quiet tire. I cannot hear them at all with the windows closed (so far up to about 80 MPH), and am not sure I am hearing them with all the windows down, either. What I wasn't expecting was how quiet they are in cornering. Even with hard cornering, so far I haven't gotten them to squeal or even make roaring or swooshing or any other kinds of noises. Amazing, for an H rated 60,000 mile warranty tire, much less one that is only $48 at Tire Rack. I was expecting to give up some performance compard to my previous Yokohama AVS-i, a summer only high performance V rated tire (same size). So far though, I don't notice much detriment to handling, if any. I don't know how the Kumhos will do in rain, but this is a brand new tire this year, so I have to believe it will be very good. There are still only a dozen or less reviews on Tire Rack.

I can't speak to the ASX vs SPT, but I know they are rated very highly at Tire Rack, so I'd go through and read many of the reviews and see for yourself.
