My guess, maybe $2300. That's assuming it's dark and the buyer wants 'one of them safe Sweede cars for my kid.' Realistically, less. It sounds like there are some cosmetic issues. That's bad. I'd rather sell a car that looks great with a blown engine than a car that goes like stink but has some cosmetic flaws. I've done it enough times to know.
A 15 year old car with 140K will scare most folks. You'll probably have to drop the price to sell it, and then the folks that show up will scare you.
The car is probably worth a lot more to you than to someone else. To you, it's a well-maintained car with a known history. TO someone else, it's an old car with some rust, and maybe another year before it dies.
It all depends on your situation. The car is fully depreciated. If you have the space, and can handle the liability insurance (no need for collision), it makes a great third car in case one of the others is down for service, for Home Despot or dump runs, or as a winter beater. If you're in no rush, you can sell it in the paper - I'd recommend someplace with free ads, as $20 every two weeks in a local big paper adds up. I hate doing it this way because you now become a slave to the telephone, and end up cancelling plans so somebody can come by to see the car - and sometimes they even show up.
If this sounds dire, maybe I'm just projecting my past experiences, but there's truth in there. It used to be that you could get out decently by donating it, but the law changes have made that harder to get much money.
Figure out your need level - if you can keep it around until it dies, great. Maybe you can find someone that's looking for a decent 'up at college' car, and you can sell it to them for $2K.
