Because my new transmission's warranty is about to expire, I took to a Saab dealer to check out some problems I've had with it. One is that it doesn't want to come out of 1st gear when cold, and sometimes when going down a hill. The 2nd problem is that it, for a year now, has crunched 2nd gear when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I reported this to the people who put it in and they told me to let it "wear in".
The dealership came back with a list of things wrong; bad transmission mount, various bushings in the shift linkage, and the strangest one, that it was filled with the wrong transmission fluid. I found the transmission mount to be interesting because, automatic transmission mounts can be changed out, but evidently manual mounts cannot without pulling the back housing.
Some history here: the transmission was rebuilt by Saab; the transmission was filled and sealed at the factory with synthetic transmission oil, it was a brand new transmission mount and assembly. I know this because I inspected the transmission before it went into the car and I have paperwork from Saab.
Evidently the dealership didn't pick up on the warranty part, because, when I told them to go ahead and fix all of this under warranty, they claimed that the transmission was not rebuilt by Saab because it didn't have proper tagging in various places. They stuck to their story about the wrong transmission fluid, even when I told them that Saab had filled the tranny. So far, they are refusing to budge, and I'm wondering what to do next. Suggestions?
