dash/instrument lighting concerns Posted by vtsnaab [Email] [Profile/Gallery]

Hi Folks.
In my '91 9KT I have some strange lighting things going on, and I
hope there is a common thread and maybe an easy repair too....
My instrument lighting seems to come and go as it pleases - like
a bulb is working fully, but it goes of and on, resulting in poor
instrument lighting on the right side about 60% of the time.
Tonight I replaced my headlight switch in hopes that the
replacement would be illuminated where the loose one was not, but
my hopes were in vain - I now have a nice, tight headlamp switch
that remains dark, and having looked for a way to put a bulb in
the one I removed, I can see no way to open it or to remove a
bulb holder...??
Lastly, the illumination for the window and roof switches goes on
and off periodically, and it is more 'off' than 'on' - but every
so often I will notice these switches are fully illuminated rather
than completely dark - where does the beginning of the power lead
for this originate, and terminate - I imagine it must be loose, or
need a cleaning badly at one end or the other ?
I will soon dismantle my dashtop in my attempt to get the EDU to
work, so I would appreciate any help possible from folks who may
have come across these ills and got them fixed already in their
car !!
Thanks,
mark
