Well, if Katrina and Rita were not enough! What luck... but am blessed as I have a wonderful family and a place to live.

Anyway, my 93 9000 CS with 210K on it started to leave me signs on the driveway. The signs are small puddles under the washer bottle, so I thought is was the bottle again. At work (in New Orleans) I checed the oil and it was a qt low. Well I thought strange as I get 2500 miles to a qt (10-40) but with all the traffic (it takes me 2 1/2 hours to go 45 miles through New Orleans over the causeway to home)I figured maybe all was OK...as I have less than 1000 miles on since the last oil change. It has not run hot and the weather has been cool, mid to high 80's, I have wired the fans to a manual override switch (both hi and low on seperate switches (I used old A/C switches out of a 900 - looks factory!). This AM I opened the hood and there was a whitish sludge all over the coolant tank. I opened the tank and it is contaminated with oil. The oil is OK, not white, so I am thinking a head gasket and blow-by...

How do I know if I need to mill the head?? I figure I can take off the balance chain, replace the timing gears and such with the $229 kit and have it all back together for under $500 - should I add in a new oil pump? And do it all in a weekend.

I figure while I have it apart - I might as well replace the heater core and fan since the core has a small leak and the fan burned up the ACC unit.

I pulled the plugs at 200K and they were nice and clean (they were in for 85k). I need the car to go to work but can work around it for a short time... If I have to mill the head - that is a couple of weeks.... Can I get an extra thick headgasket or put two (2) together?? I figure the car isn't worth much but I get 32mpg with it and it is paid for....

How can I tell if I need to send the head out before I trake it off? Do I need to buy new head bolts or is it studs? Is this common for a 9000? I mean - it has not run hot......

I appreciate your opinions and input!

Thanks and God Bless

~ Erik
