Good story.
A couple years ago, my brother's 91 325iX was used to tow my other brother's Saab 9000. (Neither of my brothers are "Daryl", by the way.)

I love the e30 iX's. I'd love to get a Euro iX touring (Wagon) and drop an e36 M3 engine in it. (One can dream, right?)

Right now I'm enjoying my Aero.
