Hey there, my '93 Aero recently told mo to "Check Engine." I opened the hood, and sure enough it's there (ha ha.) The CEL flashes 7 times when I cycle the key. From searching...This means there's an air/fuel mixture issue. The CEL came on after "rocking" the car to extricate it from the sloped parallel parking spot after the snow. Is it possible that the revving/etc. could have set the CEL to flashing in the spirit of the season?
I've checked vacuum lines, things look alright. Other culprits? Air intake temp sensor? Air Mass Meter? O2 sensor? Others?
Here's my conundrum. There's no Saab dealer near by (150 miles) and I'm leaving for a 900-mile drive next week (Bozeman, MT to just west of Tahoe, CA). The car runs perfeclty fine right now. Am I foolish to take off through the middle of nowhere with a 7-flash CEL?
The one place I know of in town (I'm sure there are others with the diagnostic equipment) can't see the car until next week (Tuesday.) I'm hoping to leave on Wed/Thurs, and the shop doesn't stock any Saab parts.
Should I order an intake air temp sensor or something, anticipating that that is the problem?
Any an all input is welcome. I'm calling other places in town, and have already been told once, "I don't work on any Saabs." I'm also quite capable and willing to do the work myself if I feel confident that I know what the source of the problem is.
Thanks,
Peter
