The connector you got with the sensor uses the Posi-lock type splices, which screw together to mechanically join the wire ends, and has seals to keep out moisture.
I'd just cut the existing one near the old O2 sensor, and leave the existing connector intact, assuming it's in good shape. Don't think you'd have enough length to take that out anyway, since it's located some distance away from the sensor.
Try to locate the splice in a location protected from road splash and exhaust pipes, and the Posi-locks should work fine.
There are two heater wires, and one sensor output wire that you connect back to the original harness; make sure you don't inadvertently connect the sensor wire to the 12V heater wire, or you'll be shopping again-
