You can find steel wheels considerably cheaper, mostly for the reasons Aaron listed. For winter wheels you should be able to pick up 4 steel wheels (15" would do and are found pretty easily) for a low price, 15" winter tires are cheaper as well, then paint them (I spray painted mine black, with rust-stopping paint, I like the look with my black Aero) or throw hubcaps on. Aluminum wheels tend to be styled rims and you may not have as much luck finding something nice for the steel rim price.
