And I think it's trying to tell me something. You can really feel it shift down from third to second--a very pronounced drop. The shift is basically smooth (no thumping, no shuddering, no slipping) but this is a new symptom.
After 130,000 miles I would imagine this transmission is feeling a little tired. Hopefully the next one will last me as long. But what I'm wondering, as I face an expensive heating season and unwelcome news from my dentist about work I need that isn't covered by my insurance, is how long I might be able to stretch my luck on this tranny. Is this just the beginning of a slow death? Or is the end now imminent and I should just send the car over to the shop asap?
This is a 1995 9K Aero (that needs a good wash in addition to a new transmission and probably a few zillion other things).
