Sadly, they have gone to super cheap units, albeit ones pretty well featured for the price. I had the Toronto, in fact I still do, and it looks more stock in the 9000 dash than any of the stock units! It looks awesome. My LCD display went on it though, and it's not economical to repair, as the part is $150. I also had a Blaupunkt San Jose MP41, which looks ok but not great. I did 'convert' it to black by swapping parts with a different but similar unit's faceplate. I also had the Acapulco MP54, which looks great, the best of their units in the last 5 years or so, but still not as good as the Toronto. It's a great unit that just came out last spring, but for some reason it was discontinued after a few months! It sure looks to me like Blaupunkt is just getting out of the mid-high end head unit market in the USA.

Some you might look at are the JVC Arsenal like, such as the KD-AR860, KD-AR960, and KD-AR5500. They are all black and the display on the lower two is really really nice and not too gaudy, and the faceplates have a really clean, flat look. Unfortunately, the button illumination is red and cannot be changed, but the display itself can be any of like 1,700 colors on the 860 and 960. I just ordered the 860 for my new car.

If you don't need MP3, you can probably find some older CD only Blaupunkt or Nakamichi or other clean looking units kicking around eBay...
