97 Aero 138K - how long too keep?

I appreciate this BB and I know I'm asking an age-old question, but here goes...
I enjoy my 1997 9000 Aero manual with 138k miles a great deal. It's my second 9k (first was '93 CSE auto) purchased at ~60k, and other than replacing the transmission I haven't had to put major $ into it. I currently put on about 12k miles (mostly city) per year. (Second car is 04 Volvo V70.) In a nutshell, here is my question:
How long should I reasonably plan on being able to drive my car without shelling out serious $? Unfortunately, I'm not able to fix most things myself, so I realistically need to rely on a local independent shop. I occasionally read about other owners driving their cars until 250k+, but I don't have a good understanding of what costs are involved. The car is in great shape and if I knew I wouldn't incur more than $1000-3000 over the next 2-3 years, I'd take my chances and keep driving it, and probably do the same for each additional year. (I really enjoy the car.) The main issue is that I'm not sure what is "reasonable" to expect for annual costs moving forward.
Instead of status quo I'm eyeing a 2001 or 2002 9-3 Viggen convertible very closely. I'm toying with the idea of keeping the Aero as a winter car (I live in Wisconsin) or more likely selling it outright for a few $k to apply to the Viggen. If I keep the Aero and don't doing anything for a few years, I'm considering the newer 9-3 convertible or new Volvo C70 as an eventual replacement.
Any thoughts?
