serpentine belt jumped Posted by bobc [Email] (#473) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bobc) on Mon, 23 Jan 2006 06:53:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello All,
95 aero, 140K or so. this morning, started it up and was greeted to a strange smell ... burning rubber. popped the hood and I noticed that the belt had jumped about 3 rows toward the fender as seen on the compressor. so I shut it down and here I am.
a few questions:
1 - how do I pop it back on? Never did this on a 9000, but I assume that there is a tensioner down there somewhere a way to loosen it (I have done this on various GM vehicles)
2 - I assume just popping it back on is not going to really fix the problem. or will it? If not, what will I need to replace? tensioner? pulleys? etc?
3 - is this a big job? I dont mind doing it all myself, in fact I would prefer it, but I am a little pressd for time. Closest indy is 30 miles, can the car make the trip as is?
thanks!
