2.3L 9000 CSE belt replacement help? Posted by Gary Stottler [Email] (#1463) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gary Stottler) on Sat, 28 Jan 2006 05:43:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am trying to replace the accessory drive belt on my 1995 9000 CSE 2.3L (turbo) automatic. This is part of the 65,000 mile service, I am doing it a bit early at 61,000 as I'm not sure the history (not to mention that all the parts are 11 years old, even tho at low mileage).
1) I have new belt, new tensioner pulley, new idler pulley. Is it a prudent precaution to replace the tensioner itself?
2) I understand I have to remove inner fender liner on the right side to do the job. Can the tensioner be compressed with some kind of standard tool, or do you really need the "special u-shaped tool"?
Thanks for any advice!
