I just installed these on the front on my 93 CSET (still had original Sachs struts - 227K miles). They were definitely firmer than the worn units I replaced, but I really like them. They seem like a nice blend of firmness and ride quality. Very much like original strut when new. Can't wait to install the rear shocks so I can get the feel of the whole package.
One thing I didn't like about the Bilstein touring struts was that they used a slightly different outer nut size(22mm) and do not have the hex insert in the piston but rather use a squared off end (requiring a slot type socket to grab). I ended up using the original nuts (since they could be tightened with a 13/16 spark plug socket and 21 mm box wrench. I jammed a screwdriver through the opening at the top to hold the squared section while I tightened the nuts. Other option is to hit them with an air gun (as long as you are careful not to overtorque).
